In the Philippines, the Good Samaritan Kinder School on the outskirts of Bacolod provides education, a nutrition program and health clinic for impoverished children, many of whom live in squatter settlements. The Good Sams also support a local orphanage, run a program of prison visits and recently opened a new outreach centre for women. In Kiribati, the Good Sams’ work includes providing an early education centre for children of Abaokoro and neighbouring villages and working with communities dealing with the destructive and damaging impacts of climate change.
In Timor Leste, the Sisters have a history of providing education and community support and this continues today with the provision of education scholarships for impoverished and homeless young people. These grants are possible thanks to a partnership with the Reuben F Scarf Memorial Foundation.
