The Sisters of the Good Samaritan Foundation (ABN 54 169 799 606) is a registered company limited by guarantee.

We are registered with the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission (ACNC) and recognised as a Public Benevolent Institution.

The company is led by an independent board comprised of a mix of Sisters of the Good Samaritan and committed laypeople who bring their experience, knowledge and passion to support and grow our work.

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC is the 39th Governor of New South Wales, commencing her five year tenure on 2 May 2019.

Sir William was sworn in as Australia’s 22nd Governor-General on 16 February 1996. He was appointed a Knight of the British Empire in 1982 and a Companion in the Order of Australia in 1988.

Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley (nee McMartin) was born and raised in Sydney. She was educated at Kingsgrove High School and went on to become a teacher, commencing in 1976. She married David Hurley in 1977.

Martin is a lawyer at Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers. With a strong common law background, Martin is an expert litigator. He has significant commissions of inquiry and royal commissions experience. Martin also works in the not-for-profit team. This work includes governance and regulatory advice, drafting commercial contracts and property transactions.

Tari Makanda

Tari Makanda

Deputy chair

Tari is a qualified chartered accountant with experience leading complex projects in auditing, accounting, risk and compliance. She gained global experience through Ernst & Young in Zimbabwe and Cayman Islands prior to joining PwC Sydney. Tari is currently a Director at Grant Thornton Australia.

Sr Bernadette Corboy sgs

Sr Bernadette Corboy sgs

Bernadette Corboy is a Sister of the Good Samaritan. Her ministry life began in teaching in Primary and Secondary schools in NSW, QLD and S.A. Bernadette spent 11 years in Kiribati and 4 years in Lawson (Blue Mountains.) She has also served as Province Counsellor for NSW and on the Congregational Leadership team.

Sr Jill O’Brien sgs

Good Samaritan Sister Jill O’Brien is a graduate of the Liturgucal Design Consultants Program at Catholic Theological Union, Chicago. She has been involved with parishes and communities as they set about the task of building or renovating their worship spaces.

Alison Sadler

Alison Sadler

Alison is currently a lawyer at Mills Oakley specialising in not-for-profit and charity law. She often advises clients on governance, with a view to helping boards function more effectively. Alison holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and a Bachelor of Justice from the QLD University of Technology.

Fran Vella

Fran Vella

Fran is the Mission Program Coordinator at Good Samaritan Education. With over thirty years of experience, she has held leadership positions in Religious Education and Mission. Fran has a strong affiliation with the Good Samaritan Schools and has a deep spiritual connection to the Good Sams.

Michael Christodoulou


Michael Christodoulou

Company Secretary

Michael has been in governance and compliance for 17 years. He is currently Senior Project Manager at Australian Catholic University and is responsible for reviews of the University’s corporate and academic governance. Since 2019, Michael has volunteered as a business mentor to consulting teams implementing projects in not for profit organisations.

Sonya’s professional background is in innovation and growth strategy. Her focus lies in simplifying complexity, nurturing relationships, and maturing business capabilities.  After 20 years senior leadership experience in the commercial sector she took the decision to work in the not-for-profit industry and has never looked back.
